The Very Important Item was an item obtained from Ghost Hunter Fern's questline, which is a chocolate bar. It was used to complete Gatekeeper's questline, which you would've fed him. However, this is now in the vending machine as of v1.51.0, due to complaints about the length of Fern's questline.
