Quest New

Ghost Hunter Gabe. Go talk to him to start his questline.

Quest Dialogue

NPCs will have dialogue to help the player understand Ghost Simulator.

Quests are tasks given to the player by NPCs. After completing a quest in their questline, a reward is given. Upon completing an NPC's entire questline, players are awarded with a greater reward, such as a pet, hoverboard, upgrader, or a special item. Most questlines are unlocked when the player unlocks the biome/area the NPC is located in by upgrading their antenna, unlocking bonus biomes or rebirthing, but some may remain locked until the player reaches a certain Antenna level.

Quest Types[]

Update 1.153

Update 1.153.0

Introduced in v1.153.0, there are several Quest Types that help define and organize a questline's importance to the player. They are mainly based on the structure of a quest.

The symbol that appears above an NPC and in the journal corresponds to the quest type as follows:

  • Yellow Star - Main Quests. Generally helps you progress. Located at the start of an area and has you gradually move through.
  • Blue Exclamation - Side Quests. Has assorted tasks that aren't about getting better. Located in the middle or at the end of an area and has you grab various stuff from before in a less structured manner.
  • Purple Exclamation - Infinite Quests.
  • Grey Question - Pending Quests. Quests that are still in progress. All quests become this once accepted.

Old System[]

Yellow Exclamation - Main Quests (Old)

Note: Originally, there were only two quest types: Main and Infinite. Main Quests had Yellow Exclamations and were all the quests that were not Infinite. Infinite Quests had Blue Exclamations.

Type Name Before After
Main Adam Quest Main (Old)
Side Liz Quest Side (Old)
Infinite Hu-man Quest Infinite (Old)

Task Types[]

There are several standard types of tasks that the NPCs have in a questline. Most tasks follow a similar or a variation to a written and objective structure of a type listed in the table below, but sometimes tasks deviate from a standard type.

Note: The symbol "#" seen below represents that a specific number would be in place of it.

Standard Type Indication(Layout of task) Meaning
Vacuum
  • Vacuum # (Specific Ghosts)
  • You must vacuum the specific Ghost type stated in the tasks.
Obtain
  1. Obtain # of (Droppable Item)
  2. Obtain # (Currency)
  3. Anormalous Obtain # of (Droppable Item)
  1. The task will require the amount of Items in your Inventory. The tally will not always start from 0. At the completion of quest, said items will be taken away from your Inventory. If this is included with an Antenna Leveling quest either together(for Adam, Jesse, and Finsley in 1st Arc and then Morgan, Rose and Ella in 2nd Arc) or immediately after(1st Arc Gabe) with the Antenna already leveled up prior, or with an Unlocking bonus biome quest with said biome already unlocked, completion will not deduct the Items since deduction is already connected to the actual level up or bonus biome unlocking itself.
  2. Same as #1, but also requiring the selling of Ectoplasm. For the Backdoor, it is directly converted when successful vaporizing of Ghosts, Mini Bosses, and using Pack Overloader. Currency will not be deducted.
  3. Same as #1 BUT are the rare cases the generic deduction in #1 may not happen, like in the case of Remnant Queen's final quest.
Collect
  1. Collect # of (Droppable Item)
  2. Collect # Ectoplasm
  1. You must recollect the items from scratch. The tally will start from 0, and unlike the Obtain-mechanic tasks, no items will be deducted from inventory when done.
  2. You must gather a set amount of Ectoplasm from any ghost.
Levelling
  1. Upgrade Antenna to Level #
  2. Level up any # pets to Level #
  3. Level up any # (Rarity) pets to Level #
  1. In the Character tab in your Inventory, you must grind for enough items to level up your Antenna.
  2. You must level up an equipped Pet to a certain level, normal Ghosts for 1 XP, Bosses and Mini Bosses for 50 XP maximum, and Mega Bosses for 250. Refer to Pet Levels for how much XP needed to level up every time.
  3. The same as #2, but for a specific Rarity of Pet.
Unboxing
  1. Buy/Purchase (Pack/Vacuum/Battery/Disruptor)
  2. Unbox/Purchase # pets/boards from (Location)
  3. Unbox # pets/boards of (Rarity) from (Location)
  4. Discover all the pets from Pet Crate #(Number)
  5. Unbox any # (Rarity) pets from (Location)
  6. Use a crate key on any crate
  1. Purchase the specific Vacuum, Pack, Disruptor, or Battery the NPC wants. You do not need to equip it for the task.
  2. Either through Gems or Crate Keys, you must unbox a certain amount of pets/hoverboards from a location.
  3. Same as #2, but with emphasis on the Rarity of the pet/hoverboard. If the quest clarifies "and above/or better" then any rarity higher than stated can be drawn and count towards tally.
  4. Specific to Pet Crates, You must have all the Common through Godly Pets for a Pet Crate in your Index. This does not mean you have to have the pet in your Inventory or have to unbox it, as trading can also work for this quest.(Exclusive to Dylan, Jylan, Wylan, Joven and Boven for their final quests)
  5. Specific to Remnant King and similar to #3, but any items with a higher Rarity that are unboxed will also count towards the tally.
  6. Specific to Ghost Hunter Ace's 2nd quest, you must use Crate Keys to unbox items from Shop Crates.
Defeat
  1. Defeat # Mini Bosses/Bosses
  2. Defeat the (name of Ghost)
  3. Defeat (any) # Bosses from (Location)
  4. Defeat # Bosses or Mini Bosses
  5. Defeat any # bosses
  6. Defeat/Complete (Tower) # times
  1. You must defeat a set amount of Mini Bosses or Bosses(exclusive to each other).
  2. Only the specific (Mini/Mega) Boss will count towards the quest.
  3. Only the Bosses from a certain World/Biome will count towards the quest.(Exclusive to Hub Blaze, Archie and Hikari, maybe Shelly also)
  4. Exclusive to Ghost Hunter Yoko, both Bosses and Mini Bosses will count towards tally. Unstated is that even Mega Bosses can count towards this.
  5. Any Boss, Mini Boss, and Mega Boss will count towards the tally.
  6. Exclusive to Halloween and Christmas Events, you must beat the last Floor on a Tower a set amount of times.
  • Ghostly Vision Mini Bosses will count under Mini Boss tallies, but will not count under Boss-exclusive quests(Types 1 & 3).
  • Mini Bosses and Mega Bosses that are only fightable during Events will NOT count towards any of the non-Event quests

  2. [Find and] Jump through (specific Ring)

  4. Exclusive to Associate Riley(and formerly 100th Update Shelly) and similar to #1, you must physically touch or click on Remnant Orbs scattered around the Ghost World with Remnant Gum equipped.

  3. You must convert items into Gum with a world's Gumball Machine.
  4. You must use the required converter to convert the currency into Gems.
