For the changes during the 2023 Easter Event, see Race Event/Easter.
Tagline: A race is about to start! Join in now to compete against fellow ghost hunters and win prizes!
Starting in v1.87.0, the Race Event was introduced in the Main Hub. It is a permanent event that runs in between Bosses. In the Race Event, the player is teleported to a race track, where they compete with other players to finish the race first.
v1.131.0 added a second race track to the rotation (which is themed around a volcano), new types of speed-pads, and a new currency called Racing Coins were scattered around the tracks that can be used to purchase boards from the Race Shop. This race track was introduced for the Easter Race Event
Information[]
Players have to wait for the next race to begin. The timer at the top of the screen counts down every 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Bosses arrive every 10 minutes, and between each Boss fight is a Race Event. When the timer hits 0 a window will popup, giving you the option to teleport to the Race Event. Event Bait can be used to skip the timer. After completing a Race, a Player may receive a 1st Place Lootbag or a Lava Lootbag(these 2 1st place rewards depending on the map), a 2nd Place Lootbag, or 3rd Place Lootbag, depending on the time the Player took to complete it. No matter what placement, Players can collect Racing Coins, which are spawned throughout the maps.
Please Note:
- All Gum is disabled during the race, so Nitro Gum does NOT have an affect on player's speeds during the race. Any non-cosmetic Gum consumed will NOT have their effects restored at the end of the race.
- Players who have acquired Hoverboard Turbocharger and/or Jetpack do NOT have an advantage, as both are automatically turned on for all participants in the race.
- If the player has not unlocked the hoverboards, the Basic Hoverboard will be equipped for the duration of the race.
- If you recently rebirthed and had a hoverboard equipped beforehand, then that hoverboard will show instead of the Basic Hoverboard.
"Why does it say that I came in (2nd/3rd/4th/etc) when nobody was in front of me when I crossed the finish line?" - Per Dev Royal: Just so you all are aware, the race system times how long it takes you to finish the race and then displays the results based on the shortest time. This is so we can avoid latency issues which mean poor internet connection wouldn't affect the race. As such, even if it looks like you came first, that doesn't necessarily mean you actually did come first.
Race Tracks[]
There are two race tracks that can occur. When the race event happens, the rotation of race tracks is Race Track #1, and then Race Track #2, and then it repeats. Otherwise, there is no way to guarantee which track will spawn.
Both Race Tracks give out Racing Coins that the Player can collect as they speed through the route(s). They come in different colors; the more common yellow(1 coin) and occasionally blue(3 coins) or the off-road pink(4 coins) and even rarer purple(10 coins). Players may need to collect more than 1 coin for the first to register.
Race Track 1[]
The race track is a horizontal route that runs through recreations of four of the Main Hub biomes (Forest, Blox City, Wild West, and Beach). There are several stationary obstacles along the route that can be avoided by jumping over or flying around them. There are also several stationary boost pads that either slow the player or speed the player based on which boost pad it is. Players have 1 minute (60 seconds) to cross the finish line in order to "complete" the race. Only the top three placement receive Race Event Lootbags in Gold (1st Place Lootbag), Silver (2nd Place Lootbag), or Bronze (3rd Place Lootbag). There is no minimum player requirements: if only one person joins the race, they are still able to compete and win first place.
Location of Pink/Purple coins: After the 5th speed pad on the left side next to a tree, on the right side near the 6th speed pad hidden behind the corner, and inside the right wagon after the water tower.
Race Track 2[]
The race track is a multi-routed map that runs through what seems to be a decomposing factory in some sort of cave, seen by the crystals and lava pouring throughout the paths. There are several stationary obstacles along the route that can be avoided by jumping over or flying around them. There are also several stationary boost pads that either slow the player or speed the player based on which boost pad it is. Players have 2 minutes (120 seconds) to cross the finish line in order to "complete" the race. Placing rewards are similar to Race Track 1 except that the 1st place winner receives the Lava Lootbag instead. There is no minimum player requirements: if only one person joins the race, they are still able to compete and win first place. The layout of the map has 3 paths for the 1st section with only 1 way open randomly per map regeneration at the Broken Pathway(1-L, 1-M, 1-R), the 2nd section keeps the left route(1-L/Route 1) straightforward(2-L) to the 3rd section while the middle(1-M/Route 2) and right routes(1-R/Route 3) converge to the right route(2-R/Route 2). At the last section, both paths from section 2 converge to the finish line, one will be sealed randomly. Rarely, 1-L may be blocked off midway forcing a detour through the side tunnels in 1-M(C1 and C2) and the exit of 2-L may be sealed without any warning forcing a diversion through the Connecting Path(C3) to 2-R.
