Introduction

(It's a journal, the initial "P" is signed on most entries, but "A" on earlier ones)

(The pages are aged, stained a slight yellow hue, a clear indicator)

(You start reading..)

'The room, grey and barren, was an all too familiar sight,'

'I wake up to it every morning, I sleep at night with it fresh in my mind.'

'It's annoying, and there's no one I can blame. I'm here because…well I don't really know.'

'Everyday is painful, being sick. I always feel weak, all of the time.'

'And I'm not weak, at least before all of this I wasn't.'

'I used to be Alistar, and I don't feel like him right now. I haven't for a long while..'

... (You flip the page and continue)

'My friends, I miss them.'

'I hardly know who they are anymore, it's been too long since I've seen them last.'

'I feel adrift, nothing seems to tie me to reality outside of this room, not anymore.'

'All I know is what my parents pass in conversation when I see them,'

(The page trails onto a deeper recount of the boy's time in sickness)

(You turn the page in a mix of respect and desire not to intrude so heavily upon his story)

...

...

(One of the entries is titled "The last day")

'Bo is excited. So am I! Why wouldn't I be!?'

'I'm cured, I'm free. It's amazing!!'

'I've just tried the fruit. Despite its weird aroma it tasted like pure sunshine!'

'The sunshine I have missed for most of my life, The days in the sun I've longed for!'

'To emerge to a world of beautiful colours, and beautiful skies. I've missed it all!'

'Oh how excited my parents will be. Oh, oh, oh!

'The smiles that will fill their faces once they hear I'm cured,'

'My heart warms just thinking about it!'

'Bo is waiting on me, I should finish this entry here for now.'

'I'll write soon, hopefully from the outside of my hospital room'

'-A'

(The entry cuts short here, blank pages were left after that. What was the space going to be for?)

... (You flip through a few more empty pages)

(You finally come to another page, there seems to be quite a few ripped out pages right before it)

(From here on entries are signed off with '-P')

(The book ends on an entry called "Forsaken")

(The page is almost fully torn out, there's nothing to read here other then the title)

...

(You close the auburn cover, the book is labelled "Journal #1", how intriguing)

(You get a sense that there is more to learn from these journals, wherever you may find more)

(Journal 1 ... of how many though?...)

...

Post Read
  • (The title of the book Journal #1 glints in the light, you wonder where to find more?)
  • (More entries probably haven't appeared since the first time you skimmed through.)
  • (You stare longingly at the pages, wishing you could read them again.)
  • (You probably shouldn't touch this again, it seemed very frail the first time.)
