Ghost Hunter Cheshire (or Cheshire Bat) is an NPC that can be found by completing the Ghostly Puzzle, and entering a secret room. She was released in Update v1.103.0 and rewards Othello upon completion of her questline.

Character Summary[]
After the Player is able to beat the Ghostly Puzzle, they meet Cheshire Bat. Cheshire is a chaotic prankster with a tendency to be easily bored, taking enjoyment in seeing people's suffering due to her pranks. She sees herself presumably higher than the other NPCs, referring to the others as "unsuspecting robots", though still seems to be acquainted with some; Hikari, Bo, and Ella. Hikari and Cheshire particularly share a bond due to their views on life and the role of the Player, though Cheshire mentions she hasn't seen Hikari in a long time. Other than those three, Cheshire often picks fun at others, making fun of Fern for being rooted to the ground or Leo being caged.
Regardless, Cheshire's questline has the Player gathering several amounts of items, for her trinkets such as her soundboard, her implied hoverboard (either an invisible one, or her wings, the latter especially possible as her fangs are revealed fake), her small garden, and a blooming Sugar Sprout she holds dear given to her by Hikari. Despite her views on fitting Developer standards as an NPC, she enjoys the Player's company, even playing the organ for them and cooperating with them to release a Glitter Bomb onto Yoko. When her questline ends, Cheshire is even slightlt somber as the Player goes, the minimal narration directly stating she enjoyed her time with them.

Oh, what I have done to annoy people~~ Hehe~~ The best thing I did was to that Riley and her precious portal. Hypnotizing the ghosts is very easy. They just mill around doing nothing, after all. Why not get them to tear a few papers and ruin a little workplace? It’s not like they recall doing it! (She maniacally laughs, the thunder sounding again.) I knew you were going to come and help her, anyway, so no harm done! I think she’s closer to you now more than ever~ Anyway, my little Ghost Hunter, I need more material. I really liked that moon map they used that one time. Not because I’m a vampire and can’t take the sun... ... the fangs aren’t even real. I like the moon because... ... but it reminds me how insignificant I am. I’m just a silly little girl made by a bunch of humans to entertain people. Character Summary[]
Cheshire reunites with the Player in the 2023 Halloween Event, saying it's been one of the worlds she's wanted to visit (as in her previous questline, it is revealed she is a World Hopper). She reveals she has been at a prank battle with the Lantern Witch, a newly revealed Mega Boss who was the first to prank Cheshire herself.
Cheshire plans to make an Ectoplasm Bomb and detonate it right in front of the ghost, which the Player assists in helping her create and set up the bomb in question. Despite Cheshire later revealing to the Player she's pinned the blame on them (and the Player rather strangely feeling genuine emotion and thinking she's a coward), the prank succeeds, with Lantern Witch's dress being stained. However, slightly out-of-character for Cheshire, she suddenly feels a bit of guilt after finding out the Lantern Witch's dress was made by the Wisp Master as a gift for his wife, and so Cheshire says she'll make it up to the Witch as "each prank comes with a cost."
Midway through the questline, Cheshire reveals she's been toying behind the scenes with both RAM and the Associates of the Forgotten, and acts as if knowing the latter is a surprise despite previously saying she knows Hikari and Ella. She says she would like to watch from the sidelines, finding amusement in particularly Phantom's instincts to start a fight.

I managed to sneak back in... The pressure plate got stuck to the ground! When I made the concoction within the bomb, I added some molten candies to the mix... Really made it sticky and hard to clean... Maybe a little too sticky. I cleaned it up but some of the gears were unrecoverable. And yet... maybe we could make do with some hoverboard pieces instead.. (Her eyes shine as she seems to have come up with a plan) Those shop boards will do just nicely... Go purchase a shop hoverboard Hurry! If you are not back quick, I'll use yours instead! |
